Let the Summer Fun Begin!

Hey Everybody,
We're less than 3 weeks away from the June camp and less than two months away from the July camp and there is much to report! First of all, I'd like to thank the LORD for all of the wonderful people we were able to meet and interview for staff and support positions. God has richly blessed us with a great crowd of people that will be helping out with camp in many different ways! These kids are going to be sweetly blessed!
We have filled up both of our camps with campers! There were so many campers who applied that we had to create a waiting list. We weren't suprised about the number of campers who would want to come to camp, however, we were a little suprised that we will be working with more boys than girls this summer.
Our activities leaders are gathering supplies, cutting craft templates out and anxiously awaiting for camp to begin.
For all of our readers out there, we'd like to again ask for your prayers for camp.
There are always other ways to support camp as well, so feel free to email us at rfkc@reallife.org if you have any questions, suggestions or donations!

3 Months To Go!!!

Well, these past 3 months we've been busy recruiting incredible people by acquiring applications and interviewing over 50 people! The interviews have gone very well and we're very excited about the resident & non-resident staff that will be joining us for each camp. That being said, we still have about 15 resident positions left for each camp, so if you are interested, please print off an application (found embedded in the www.reallife.org site under "Royal Family Kids Camp").

In these next 3 months we will be preparing for the kids by fundraising, supply-raising, and staff-raising. The month of May is when we hold mandatory staff training. It's an encouraging time to let you meet the people that you will be working with, plus it teaches you all of our unique ways of giving these kids the "royal treatment".

Speaking of the kids, last year's camp was so successful that many of the organizations that work with foster children are very excited about sending their children to our RFKC camp. We haven't yet received applications on 100 campers, but each week there are more applications comming in! Also, some of our campers from last summer are returning!!! What a blessing!

The next big fundraiser will be the RFKC golf tournament. Please visit the www.reallife.org website for details for how to sign up. The deadline for signing up is March 29, 2009.

After this year's golf tournament, we will begin putting together our annual dodgeball tournament that will probably take place in early June '09. More details to come! Start putting your team together now!

2 Weeks of Camp!!!

Friends & Supporters of RFKC San Antonio,
The big news to annouce, is that we are now in the process of planning 2 separate weeks of Royal Family Kids Camps during the summer of 2009. It was such a blessing in 2008 to see nearly 40 children be encouraged, that we prayerfully decided that it was time to provide this unforgettable week of camp to more kids. Thus, we'll be holding a RFKC camp during the 3rd week of June 2009, AND then there will be an entirely new set of staff that will be running an additional camp during the 3rd week of July! That being said, since each week of camp is designed for 48 campers...we should have to resources to provide a camp to a total of 96 campers during the summer of 2009!!!
We hope you as excited about this news as we are! Oh, and don't forget to begin thinking of creative ways to help make RFKC 2009 incredible!!!

Special Thanks To Our Counselors & Staff!!!

The people you see here were the in-resident staff for RFKC 2008. We've been home for a few weeks now, but each individual has a story of their own to tell. Each were able to experience a truly unforgettable week, so please ask these guys to share some highlights of camp with you next time you meet. NOTE: You will probably be motivated to get involved with camp after hearing these testimonies!

Day #5 The Lord Provided!

Our lifechanging week with the campers has come to an end. As of 4pm this afternoon, all campers have been picked up by their caretakers.

A heartfelt thanks to all of our supporters. I can't summarize this week with words. Do know that the campers were so appreciative of EVERY ASPECT of the week. The counselors and staff all poured their lives into filling this week with love and encouragement. It was the greatest RFKC I've ever seen...{Note: Every RFKC week is fantastic}

Readers, please take some time to talk to somebody who was there. You might want to have tissues nearby. Since every camper has a story, one tool that we use to better understand where each camper is at, is to have each of the campers write a letter to God. Some of these letters are read at the Welcome Home dinner. Hearing these precious childrens' words and seeing their hearts open up to God is just moving!
